Twenty stations belonging to Florida Public Broadcasting Service Inc. have collaborated with the state association of public radio and television stations to apply for a $22 million, stimulus-funded grant from the National Telecommunications and Information Administration’s Broadband Technology Opportunities Program.

FBPS, based in St. Petersburg, would use the grant to build a statewide broadband network to serve schools, community centers, senior centers, public safety organizations, health care facilities and other “critical institutions,” a release said...
