State CIO Teri Takai issues statement on $2.3 million in stimulus funding for broadband mapping and planning

State Chief Information Officer Teri Takai issued the following statement after the California Public Utilities Commission was awarded $2.3 million for the State to track, analyze and make public information related to broadband deployment in California. California was among the first four states to be awarded funding through the Department of Commerce's National Telecommunications and Information Administration's (NTIA) Recovery Act State Broadband Data and Development Grant Program.

"I am so pleased to announce that California is one of the first states to receive this important funding that will lead to a better understanding of broadband deployment in our state," said Teri Takai, California's Chief Information Officer and member of the Governor's Recovery Task Force. "The Schwarzenegger Administration is working hard to ensure that we receive as much Recovery Act funding as possible to help stimulate the economy and connect more Californians to the Internet.
