Broadband speed in U.S. up 28 percent in 2009, still lagging - Top Technology Articles by FinallyFast.com

A report released by Scottsdale, Arizona-based market research firm In-Stat showed that broadband speeds in the U.S. rose by 28 percent in 2009. The study also indicates that cable modem speed increased at a faster rate than fiber-to-the-home speeds.

Even with the improvements, though, the Federal Communication Commission reported that 93 million Americans, about 35 percent of the population, do not have access to broadband internet. The advancements do not help shrink the digital divide, as most new technology is either too expensive or entirely unavailable to poorer communities...
