Broadband Stimulus

Three years from now many more Washington residents will have access to faster internet service. Secretary of Commerce Gary Locke visited Seattle Monday to announce that federal stimulus funds have been dedicated to expand high–speed broadband access across the state.

Secretary Locke said nearly $85 million of Recovery Act money was allocated to build broadband Internet networks in remote areas of the state. The money will be used to bring high–speed access to almost 400,000 homes and 18,000 businesses in Washington. Locke said that's key to creating a competitive economy in the 21st century...
